My Reality Right Now (or, Josef K Tries to Pay His Student Loan)

  1. I attempted to make a student loan payment last Wednesday.
  2. I gave my lender, Mohela, the correct number for an account with sufficient funds.
  3. Mohela accepted the payment and sent a receipt with confirmation number.
  4. The funds never moved from my bank to Mohela.
  5. Mohela does not know why the funds have not moved.
  6. My bank does not know why the funds have not moved.
  7. The advice of Mohela call center representative #1, with whom I spoke on Thursday, was to wait until Monday to see whether the funds move.
  8. The advice of Mohela call center representative #2, with whom I spoke today (Monday), is to wait until Wednesday to see whether the funds move.
  9. Since the account is now past due, Mohela will continue to call me daily to attempt collection. Call center representatives #1 and #2 are powerless to stop this.
  10. My instructions are that when Mohela calls tomorrow, I am to tell call center representative #3 that I have spoken with call center representatives #1 and #2 and to direct call center representative #3 to my file, which call center representative #3 will not have read before calling to collect my payment. Call center representative #3 will then see that we are all waiting to see whether the funds will move of their own accord.
  11. When Mohela calls Wednesday, I am to tell call center representative  #4 that I have spoken with call center representatives #1, #2, and #3 and to direct call center representative #4 to my file, which call center representative #4 will not have read before calling to collect my payment. Call center representative #4 will then see that we are all waiting to see whether the funds will move of their own accord.
  12. If I have not heard from call center representative #2 by noon on Wednesday, I am to call Mohela and tell call center representative #5 what I have discussed with call center representatives #1, #2, #3, and #4. Call center representative #5 will then take the appropriate action, whatever that may be.

When they come for me, someone bring this blog post to my trial.
